Mid to late war?

Postby bishoplord » Fri Dec 04, 2009 2:56 pm

Hi,

I'm in the middle of a large re-basing project for some of my 10mm armies, and thinking of basing some Wars of the Roses figures for a Mid to late HYW army ....compatible? some sources say Yes, then a look in "Armies of the middle ages 1" to say not quite? Hmm ...Any advise welcome.

Thanks
Jason.

If you were to do sayTalbots force at Castillon the armours and fashions would be very much the same.

Who's mini's were you going to use? You can get away with a lot more in terms of historical discrepancies with the smaller scales than say in 28mm.

Cheers,

Darrell.

Hello Darrell,

I'm using Pendraken miniatures they are described for WotR or HYW late war. The period as Ive said will be late war so yep from about Formigny 1450.I would like to have gone a little earlier say Rouvray(the Herrings) 1423 but im not sure . Like you've said at 10mm I can get away with more especially Pendraken with them being a little smaller,

They will be fine for the latter stages of the HYW.

It all depends on how accurate you want to be with the armours etc. I personally wouldn't object to playing a 10mm army an an earlier war army if it was modelled on Formingy or later. I'd probably have a slightly different attitude if it was 28mm and the differences were more obvious. Having said that, I wouldn't be too critical either, as long as the game was fun and we both enjoyed it :) .

If I was putting together a demo game then all would have to be as accurate as I could manage.

Cheers,

Darrell.

Hmm? after some deliberation I think I will re-base as WotR. I like to get my armies as accurate as poss even at the smaller scales.

Cheers for the mulling over

No probs mate. I know what you mean about getting thi9ngs as accurate as possible. That's one of the beauties of Late Medieval gaming...... lots to research and lots of often complicated painting to do 8-) .

Cheers,
